Joining the ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) in December 2019, Dr. Byunghoon Nam is responsible for conducting surveillance on regional and member countries.
Dr. Nam is a desk economist for Lao PDR and a backup economist for the Philippines. He conducts research on fiscal policy for the ASEAN+3 region and member countries.
Prior to joining AMRO in 2019, Dr. Nam worked at the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Korea for more than 15 years. He has extensive experience in the fields of macroeconomic analysis and forecast, economic policy development and coordination, fiscal policy, and public finance management.
Dr. Nam received his PhD in Economics from the University of Washington, and a Bachelor of Economics from Seoul National University.
