The ASEAN+3 Research Group (RG) was launched at the ASEAN+3 Finance Ministers’ Meeting (AFMM+3) in August 2003. The aim of the RG is to identify and explore subjects for possible regional financial cooperation from the medium-to-long-term points of views by mobilizing knowledge and expertise of private researchers and research institutions.

In November 2014, ASEAN+3 members concluded that the RG had successfully accomplished its goal after ten years of activities. Research culture has been successfully rooted in ASEAN+3, for example, through studies conducted by AMRO. ASEAN+3 agreed to integrate the products of the RG into AMRO’s thematic studies and for the completed products to be listed on AMRO’s website for reference.
